Volumetric Capture Experiment

Experimental R&D, 2020

We spent 3 days building a volumetric capture studio in Liverpool as part of a collaboration with LJMU Immersive Arts, Volograms, Juice Immersive, LJMU Dance, Realspace, Kinicho, Focal Point VR, Fablab Liverpool and a number of other artists, companies and students interested in the intersection of art, media and technology.

The set up involved 19 cameras and 20 crew to capture real life 3d performances of dancers, heritage performances, music and some business use cases for projects involving augmented reality, virtual reality and holographic displays.

Looking forward to seeing the results. In the meantime enjoy this Fly through video of the set up created by Noel Jones.
